Asterisk: optimizing a2billing mysql database with more than 1,000,000 rates in cc_ratecard Imprimer

UPDATE: Areski Belaid, from a2billing, has just let us know that the index we are talking about will be added to the next a2billing release. We have been told that the index is already part of the source repository now as of rev 2419.

Like many other people, we have experienced performance problems with a2billing ( asterisk2billing ) when our cc_ratecard table reached 1,000,000 rows.

We have surfed around the internet to find solutions to fix this problem. We found several solutions, some suggesting to split the cc_ratecard table into multiple tables in order to fix things. Nevertehless, we figured that there must be another way and there was indeed another way. Click below to read more...

Hacker Redirects Barack Obama's Site Imprimer
Écrit par DarkAges

According to Paul Mutton of Netcraft.com, "A security weakness in Barack Obama's website has been exploited to redirect visitors to Hillary Clinton's website. Visitors who viewed the Community Blogs section of the site were instead presented with Clinton's website as a result of a cross-site scripting vulnerability." The article closes with "While Mox states that the original issue has now been fixed, a number of similar vulnerabilities have since been identified and remain unfixed, and are documented on xssed.com, which notes that such vulnerabilities open up opportunities to infect Obama's supporters and site visitors with malware, adware and spyware."

Asterisk chroot - Asterisk server running in a chroot jail; not as secure as virtualization but here it is. (Asterisk 1.4.18 and Linux 2.6.24) Imprimer
Écrit par Alain Côté

I finally gave up, I admit it, it was silly to try to run Asterisk reliably in a VmWare virtual machine, just as my co-workers kept on telling me. I was going to force us to get into Xen and other popular virtualization techniques just to prove that Asterisk should run perfectly in a virtual machines. I still believe that it should, but I completely give up on trying to demonstrate it ;-)
