Choppy IVR sounds problem solved on asterisk 1.4.17 on VmWare server 1.4 (a la trixbox) with HP Pavilion a1450n computer (nvidia chip set) Imprimer

Update 2010-03-16: We have tested Asterisk with VMware server 2.X and clock issues seems to be resolved when simply installing with out of the box configuration. So there seems to be no more choppy IVR sound issues while using VMware server 2.0. We recommand that you give it a try and come back here to post your findings, thanks in advance ;-)

The rest of this article covers our experience when we were using VMware server 1.X, it is left here only for reference and documentation purposes.

Update: Older file formats (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Corel Draw) are no longer supported after installing Windows Office service pack 3 Imprimer

Microsoft now apologize for saying that Corel file formats were insecure !

"Microsoft Corp. apologized yesterday for saying its file format posed a security risk and issued new tools to let users of Office 2003 SP3 unblock a host of barred file types."

Some older file formats (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Corel Draw) aren't supported anymore after installing Windows Office service pack 3. Microsoft apparently did this because those older file formats are insecure.

Easy as Pie Ajax Requests - Simple Ajax Tutorial Imprimer

We found this interesting AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) tutorial. It is called "Easy as pie" because this is as simple as it can get. The tutorial shows how to implement a nice voting system and the graphical output helps you to understand how AJAX works.

The author starts by stating what AJAX isn't:

"Ajax is not flashy JavaScript. Ajax is not a fancy form, radical menu or custom tool-tip. Ajax is definately not a styled popup."

SPF Howto: Keep your domain names clean with SPF (Sender Policy Framework), it helps to stop spammers from using your domain names to send spam. Imprimer

You can use DNS SPF (Sender Policy Framework) to reduce the amount of spam you are getting but this article is not about this approach. We do not use SPF to filter our incoming mail for spam, we use other techniques and we do not feel the need to use SPF for now. We will write about it if we decide to use SPF to filter our incoming mail in the future.

Nevertheless, we noticed that some spammers used addresses from the domains we manage in the FROM field of the spam. This could be an attempt to get back at us since we systematically report all spam that we get.

Samba Team Receives Microsoft Protocol Documentation Imprimer

December 20th 2007. Today the Protocol Freedom Information Foundation (PFIF), a non-profit organization created by the Software Freedom Law Center, signed an agreement with Microsoft to receive the protocol documentation needed to fully interoperate with the Microsoft Windows workgroup server products and to make them available to Free Software projects such as Samba.

Developer preview JavaSE 6 for Leopard released Imprimer
Apple finally released a developer preview of Java SE 6 for Leopard. A free ADC account is required to download, but don't bother unless you have a 64-bit Intel Mac.
